Since fall is fast approaching and Sunday afternoons are made for reading, we decided to share the content that made us smile, laugh, tear-up and everything in between this past week. Don’t worry, The Art Stories are going to be back on their culture-filled schedule next month. You can expect fresh articles, photo essays and much, much more. In the meantime, here’s what we have been reading:
We wouldn’t be called The Art Stories if we didn’t propose an article on art, wouldn’t we? Atsy published a story about Hanna Eshel and her beautiful minimalist sculptures. Don’t miss it!
Another good read can be found on Seinfeld, which is a blog on the sit-com that thrilled America and the world. It’s not your next door fan blog posting daily pictures and writing fan-fiction. They provide legal analysis on the matters that arise from several of the series episodes. Genius and hilarious at the same time. We will not give you any spoilers!
Recently, we stumbled upon a photo essay that restored our faith in humanity for good. Steve McCurry, one of the world’s most famous photographers, published a series on friendship on his personal blog. Needless to say, we would have loved to posess even a small fraction of his talent in photography and storytelling.
It seems that an exhibition a day can keep depression at bay! It seems like mental health clinicians are starting to integrate a more holistic approach to treating depression. This article from Inc. magazine describes why doctors started to prescribe museum visits and time in nature to individuals struggling with mental health issues.
There is a charity in Athens called Free Movement Skateboarding that’s doing incredible work on the integration of refugees in Athens. Yes, you’ve heard that right. Athens, Greece. From skate lessons to young kids in refugee camps to all girl skate sessions in safe spaces, they are bringing the smile back to the kids’ faces. Read all about it in an interview of one of the volunteers for Free Skateboard Magazine.
We hope you enjoy these reads and we can’t wait to see you very soon!
